Non-Clinical Staff Survey

The purpose of this study is to better understand the outcomes and benefits of LEED certified (sustainably designed) hospitals to answer the question: do the monetary investments in sustainable healthcare facilities yield the intended operational, environmental and human-centered benefits?

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED): is a rating and certification system used to assess the sustainability and environmental impact of buildings and construction projects. LEED for Healthcare is a rating system that helps healthcare facilities design and construct new buildings and renovate existing ones to be more sustainable. It's a voluntary, point-based system that covers five main areas of sustainable design which include, for example, a more rigorous focus on water efficiency, access to nature, and daylighting which begin to address the links between sustainability and the health of the patient.

LEED certified hospitals are designed and operated to consume less water, less energy, fewer natural resources, and are ultimately aimed to reduce the overall impact of the development on the local, regional, and global environment.
